I painted this from my photograph of a random music session at Matt Molloy's ( flautist from the Chieftains) Pub in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. On my last recent trip I presented a matted print of this painting to the pub and few weeks later received a personal phone call from Ireland from.Matt Molloy, himself thanking me and saying theywill find a place to hang in the pub!
I have really been on a roll with his painting. It won best in show at the Manasquan River Group of Artist exhibit in 2017. In 2018 it scored a nice monetary award for excellence in the Audubon Artist Annuall Exhibit at the Salmagundi club in New York City. Just recently, now in 2019, I won first place in oil painting for Monmouth countyi n the NJ Stare Senior competion where all first place winners from all counties compete for the top prize. I came in third which was a big deal to beat so many fine first place state professional winners......AND that’s not all.....one day,out of the blue, I received a phone call from the set dresser of The TV series, Ray Donovan. She saw this painting online and contacted me and purchased a print from the website. I had to sign a release as they are interested in using it as part of decoration on the wall on one of the shows sets. You never know where art will lead you.
